We are celebrating Book Week throughout Week 5!
Book Week is always one of my favourite weeks of the school calendar. I know many students enjoy the opportunity to dress up as a loved character, and the events of the week really are designed to foster a love for reading.
In a time where so much entertainment is accessible to our students on screens, I think celebrating Book Week is even more important. Nothing can replace those special shared moments of reading together with your child. Over the last few weeks our students shared with us the things that make their hearts feel happy – you would be surprised at the number of students who said it was having a bed time story read for them. I know when my children were young some nights I loved this opportunity to spend time with them, but other nights my mind was full of all the jobs I needed to do and bedtime stories felt like just another chore.
As parents I think there is actually not many things that we do that make such a big impression on our kids, and convey our love to them, more than reading them a story. As a teacher I think there is nothing as powerful and effective for supporting children’s learning as reading with them regularly. I hope you get to spend some time reading together with your child this Book Week!
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thanks for coming in to meet with us for Parent Teacher Interviews. These meetings are such a great opportunity to work with you and think about the ways we can best support your child during their time at Preschool. A big thank you too all those who completed our Communication survey – your feedback is really important to us and will help inform our practice as we reflect on ways to improve our communication of student learning.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Miss Kate and the Strickland family on the safe arrival of Harper Mae Strickland! It was very exciting to hear this good news and we look forward to meeting Harper in the weeks to come!!
